HALF TURNED OVER
Johnny Allen finds himself in a precarious position during the 1962 Southern 500 at Darlington.
Allen, a native of nearby Greenville, S.C., qualified ninth for the event but finished 26th after this mishap. Allen was no stranger to spectacular mishaps at Darlington. During the 1960 Rebel 300, Allen took out a good portion of the scorer's stand when he crashed through the guardrail retaining barrier in turn four.
